A captivating, decorative masterwork sighted on the last day of our stay in Essaouira, Morocco. We fell madly in love with this Glaoua carpet. We also fell madly in love with Essaouira and will be posting some photos on our "Journeys" page.
This rug features hand knotting, and raised pile areas defining tribal symbolism. The radiant color combinations: orange, teal green, royal blue, red, brown, and natural wool dazzle the viewer with displays of geometric abstract figures. Crafted by the Berber women of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, this rug has been woven with skills passed down from mother to daughter.
Consider it as a wall hanging... or on a hardwood or tile floor. Perfect.
