Scout Dunbar Artist Reception on August 17

Scout Dunbar Artist Reception on August 17

Kerr+Jones Fine Art and Craft in East Boothbay continues to showcase noted contemporary Maine artists with a reception for artist Scout Dunbar on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Dunbar’s works in ink, paint and colored pencil stand alone in the realm of creativity. Her dreamlike, primitive images of birds, boats, fish and flowers evoke a playfulness that draw in the viewer to a magical sense of place. In her current collection, she finds steady inspiration along the shore of Muscongus Bay where she retreats to her summer studio in a small waterfront cottage.

In her words —“Raised in a family of artists, I grew up understanding the importance of making and experiencing art. I believe deeply in its healing nature and power to enrich lives, and am passionate about creating beautiful work that inspires.”

“There’s a quality in her work that is absolutely captivating. I’m mesmerized by her unique style and use of primitive shapes and symbolism” said Diana Kerr, co-owner of Kerr+Jones Gallery,

Dunbar, a third generation female artist, received her BFA degree, with a concentration in printmaking, from Alfred University in upstate New York. She has centered her art practice in New York City, Santa Fe, Tucson, and Bremen, Maine. Her works are in the permanent collection of the University of New Mexico, as well as corporate and private art collections.
